Original Chilean Army Special Forces OD Shirt – Dated 1980 | Batallón de Comandos de Iquique

An exceptional original Chilean Army olive drab field shirt, dated 1980, preserved in mint condition with virtually no signs of wear. Complete Special Forces uniforms from this period are seldom encountered in such outstanding condition, making this a remarkable acquisition for collectors of Cold War militaria.

The shirt retains its complete original Special Forces insignia, including the coveted Paratrooper Wings embroidered above the breast pocket and the distinctive “Combate Especial” skull qualification badge, awarded to personnel who successfully completed one of the Chilean Army’s most demanding combat training programs.

Of particular significance is the original shoulder patch of the Batallón de Comandos de Iquique, featuring the desirable 1979 pattern with the iconic Chilean corvo combat knife crossed by lightning bolts. This short-lived insignia represents one of the earliest organizational phases of Chile’s modern Special Forces.

The Batallón de Comandos de Iquique was later disbanded and reorganized as Commando Regiment No. 6, while retaining its headquarters in the strategic northern city of Iquique. As a result, surviving uniforms bearing the original battalion insignia are considerably scarcer than those of its successor unit.

With its pristine condition, complete period insignia, and direct association with one of the Chilean Army’s elite Special Forces formations, this shirt represents an outstanding and increasingly difficult-to-find artifact from the Cold War era.
